This morning I tried to listen to my personalised internet radio station on Yahoo Music‘s Launchcast but got this message instead.
LAUNCHcast Is Off the Air – It’s a Day of Silence
LAUNCHcast Radio and other webcasters are silent today, from
12 midnight EST to 11:59 pm EST. A recent COPYRIGHT ROYALTY
12 midnight EST to 11:59 pm EST. A recent COPYRIGHT ROYALTY
decision will impose punishing fees that could shut down most online
radio.
You can do something about it. Go to http://www.savenetradio.org/
to find out more, and call your congressional representative
before JULY 15th.Â
Today is only one day of silence — but if you don’t speak up, this could be the only sound we’ll hear from online radio.
Apparently because of the drastic increase of royalty rates, July 15 2007 will be the day the music dies, music on the internet that is. Thats really very sad. I can’t do much about it accept help to spread the word on my blog so something can be done hopefully.
