Always look presentable

We should always look presentable because you never know who you may bump into.

Over the weekend I bumped into an old school friend whom I have not met for 25 years! I knew she looked familiar and was a school or classmate but I got the school mixed up but she remembered my name! Amazing! I was never really very outstanding in school so I’m surprised she remembered my name.

When I got home, I quickly had a look at myself at the mirror and I was unhappy to find that I looked terrible! I had just washed my hair in a hurry and it was still wet when I left the house so it looked straggly and unkempt. My face was not made up. It looked pale and tired. I wished I had done a bit more to make myself look more presentable. Hahaha.

On the bright side. She still recognised me after 25 years so despite the straggly hair and pale face maybe I didn’t change that much afterall. Well, only older and heavier but not much different. Hahaha.

Next time I go out, I should take a bit more trouble with my appearance. My hair is usually straggly after being washed in a hurry or oily from not having had time to wash. Theres never any time to have it beautifully styled and blown. I do envy those who have the time to primp themselves up. I never seem to be able to find time for such things even though I’m vain and love to spend time dressing up. I wonder where others find the time to do so.

For me, if I look good, my kids are usually dressed in a hurry. On the other hand if I take the trouble to dress them up and tie the girl’s hair in pretty ribbons etc, then I’m I’ll end up looking like something the cat dragged out. There’s hardly a time when we all look good together. It just takes too much time and effort. Lol!

I used to dress up nicely and even put on lipstick when I go to the market but now … sigh … I wear my T and short pants without lipstick.

When going out, it’s true dat I don’t look nice but my girl will. I usually dress her up nicely. U were right by saying ‘It just takes too much time and effort’. But guess I need to put some ‘paint’ and ‘alter’ a bit of myself else ppl will start calling me ‘Ah Poh’ (hahaha).

Or worse still, they will think you are your girl’s Ah Poh. Haha.

Yayaya, going grocery shopping is the worst. Don’t feel like dressing up and wham, I met an ex-colleague who is an aerobic class instructor. Ammah, mana mau lari. Moral of the story, take time to prim a bit or else the self-esteem too dented.

Ya lor, wah toh si beh chai loh dat time..

hahaha….before I became a mom, i remember telling my friend that i always see children all dressed up nicely when I go to the mall. But when I look at the parents, most of the time they were haggard or have unkept hair. LOL. Now I know why.

Hahaha. Yes, by the time I’m finished dressing them nicely, I’m sweating profusely, my makeup (if I bothered) all runny.

You’re not alone, MG! And our family fits Mommy to Chumsy’s observation above – Lucas is the best dressed and Mummy here is the worst. I hope the friend you met is a nice one – I would cry if I look my worst meeting one I especially dislike (or jealous oflah!) hehehe ;-)

Oh its just a neutral one but if its one of those that you dislike faster walk away and pretend dunno loh. Hahaha.

MG, not because I am afraid who I might meet but I always must have a shower, wash my hair before I leave the house. Sometimes my husband asks me to go to the local supermarket with him, I will decline if I have not had a shower or if I have not washed my hair. A bad habit liow.

I am sure you look presentable otherwise your long lost friend wouldn’t have called you lah. :)

Well, I did shower and wash my hair but I didn’t blow dry the hair thats why it looked so awful. Hehe.
