We have to learn to laugh at ourselves

“Laughter is the best medicine” ….. when the going gets tough.

I am down today because I learned that my good friend has to be evacuated due to the wildfires near her home. At the same time I discovered that another good friend has to make a tough decision on whether to have a hysterectomy to control cancerous growth.

My friend tells me that we have to learn to laugh at ourselves. Yes, we do that, don’t we? Laughter is our coping mechanism. We crack silly jokes and use humour to cope when the going gets tough. I could do with a good dose of humour right now.

I hope that my friend will find her home intact when the fires have settled and I hope that my other friend will have the wisdom and strength to make the right decision at this very difficult time and that she will be in good health.

I have other troubles too but they are little compared to what they have to go through right now.

  1. Yeah, I knew that quote but talk is easy than do….if I hv problems bothering me, I don’t think I can laugh ler. 🙁

Sometimes you have no choice but to make light of your troubles or risk being dragged down by despair.

  2. Reminds me of a line I read recently: “Very sad things always contain an element of comical.” Ya, I like to laugh at myself too. Better laugh than cry actually.

Yah, to laugh is better than to cry altho a good cry every now and then releases some stress as well.

  3. Err…… laughter and food, next time be4 i evacuate i must cook bee koh moey (sweet rice)or ang tau th’ng (red bean soup) bling with me 😛

  4. Hallo! Yah! Laughter is the best medicine! That is why I always try to post up funny entry & spread some laugh to my reader even though I might be no happy or very worry myself! Have a nice day!

Haha. I must visit your blog more often then.

  5. Yep, I laugh at myself often as you can see. No point going through life with sadness lah! Life is so short. Something happened to firehorse!? I go help.

She’s ok now, just covered with soot that is all. Phew!

  6. Take it easy with life, right? it’s always easy to say it, but it’s kind of hard to practice sometimes. However, always laugh wholeheartedly. When things happen, if we are sad, we still can cry… 🙂

    Wish everyone here happy!!!

Wish the same to you. 🙂

  7. Late again. Too busy making lengteh for your Firehorse lor.

In this world, no one is exempted from life’s problems but how we handle it is what makes us triumph over issues that get us down.

People see I laugh all the time even when I am troubled but that does not mean all is well, right? I choose who to express my problems to and to others laughing with them or AT THEM helps! :))

Yes hor, must see who you laugh with or else you may be mistaken for laughing AT THEM and offend them instead sometimes.
