Now what shall I do today?

Now lets see….

I’ve got the laundry to fold, and the the dust on the shelves and the mirrors look an inch deep. I usually bluff myself (and hubby) by telling myself that I don’t mind having a house full of dust so long as its full of love. But an inch of dust has gathered and thats a bit too much. Hehe.

And the toilet’s starting to look like a public toilet again. Yuck! Something has to be done about that. And I promised the boy that I would sit with him to do his ABCs in front of the computer. And when the girl comes home I’ve got to supervise her homework. That usually takes a looooong time.

And of course, I have to cook or there would be nothing to eat. Then there would be the dishes to do and water to boil or there would be none to drink. Then I need to bathe the kids and get them to nap in the afternoon. There’s also the book that I’m halfway reading. I simply must read the next chapter. Oh, and there are all those blogs that I want to read…. And I must practise my piano too before my next lesson. (I’m an adult learner because I never had the chance to learn as a kid).

I musn’t forget about the ironing. I better get round to ironing those shirts or hubby will have nothing to wear to work. I hate ironing second to washing the toilet.

And the girl needs to be taken to the doctor again because her cough is not going away. The doctor says that it can develop into asthma if left for too long. And I do need to catch up with my sleep too since I’m still not feeling well…. And there’s my exercises which I have been slacking in because I’m not feeling well…

Then there’s the children’s room which was turned over by hubby last night while he was searching for a lizard. Everything in the room is in a mess….. Sob. Sob. Normally its not messy. I have a motto to help me get rid of clutter in my life. A place for everything and everything in its place. That really works for me.

Thats just my todo list for the day. The rest I’m skipping till next time… like sweeping and mopping the floor, changing the bedsheets and washing them of course, and theres my beloved cross stitch gathering dust in some little corner of the house, the carpets to vacumn, and……… I think I better stop here before I start feeling overwhelmed. Better to break the tasks down into little ones and work from there. Phew!

I don’t know where to start!

  1. I really sympathize with you!! I know how it feels to be paralyzed by the sheer amount of work needed to keep the house and family members organized each day. A good and efficient maid is really worth her weight in gold these days, eh?

Unfortunately, its not easy to find a good and efficient maid.

  2. Aren’t u getting a maid? In the mean time why not get a part time helper?

I hate cleaning the toilet but ironing can be quite enjoyable. Put the ironing board in front of the TV, make a glass of ribena and enjoy.

If I turn on the TV for ironing, I’m afraid I’ll burn the clothes. Hahaha. When I iron, I will turn on the aircond and switch on the music. Hubby says I’m the most expensive maid. Lol!

  3. I know exactly what you mean! Luckily for me, there is a laundry downstairs (they also do delivery and pickups if need be) and most restaurants offer free home delivery.

Actually housework is not too bad. I can make myself a glass of Ribena and look at it the whole day.. 😀

I use to have the laundry downstairs. I miss that. Housework is not important. Family is. So I’d rather spend time with the family then spend time doing housework. With that kind of priority I like your suggestion of looking at a glass of Ribena all day. Hahaha.

  4. mmm… get a part time maid!! It’s worth it. 🙂

The part time maid left last year. I’m now looking for a full time one. Actually I hate the idea of having a maid, if not for my health…I agree that a part time one would be just nice.

  5. Reading what u’ve written is exactly what I’m facing (isn’t it the same with every SAHM?). I hate cleaning the toilets too but what to do, I hate dirty toilets more *blek*. And I’m always ‘ngi ngi ngo ngoing’ to Pappy why there’s so much dust in the house eventhough I wipe, sweep and mop every day … sigh … sigh … sigh …

I only realised I have SOOOOOO much to do after being a SAHM and WITHOUT a maid! (Pappy refused to get a part time maid for me) *duh* And I’ve only 1 small kid and a teeny weeny apartment to take care of. I really salute to mummies with 2 or 3 kids.

I used to live a teeny weeny apartment. Now I have upstairs and downstairs. Horror of horrors. (In terms of housework la although the kids love the extra space to run about) How I miss my teeny weeny apartment. Hahaha.

  6. I sympathize with you although I have to say I am glad for my m-i-l who cooks for the whole family. So that’s one headache solved. I just do our laundry and some house keeping. Even that I see dust everywhere and things are a clutter for lack of proper storage space.

    gtg. Kids fighting…

Lots of storage space helps. Just stash everything away and out of sight. Haha.

  7. i used to be like u b4 i had a partimer. ya, u shd split ur housechores evenly. say washing toilets once or twice a week. set the same day to do it every week. every mon, etc.
change bedsheets every two weeks say every 1st and 16th of the mth.
cooking and bathing gotta be everyday lor…perhaps be lazy a bit and get kids mcD, once a while is ok one.
if ur hse is not dusty, mop 3 times a day, weekend is rest day lor, i tell u, if u use a vacuum its very clean. once or twice a wk will do. i used LICIN LICIN floor wash and it feels like very clean and can last for 3 days. i dont use other detergents like dettol, etc anymore, it makes the floor sticky if put too much.
hope it helps, or have u already been doing this…??take care..

Thanks for the tips. It always helps to get more ideas and suggestions.

  8. Ohhhh….poor you!

Now, send your clothes to the laundry man to be cleaned, ironed and then returned prompto!
Cater, then you don’t have to be a cook!
And there are part time maid services so that you don’t have to be a maid!!!

Then you can REALLY be a full time MUM…..after all that is what you are staying at home for!

    Haha. Yes, Ma’am!
