Mirror mirror on the wall, who is the fairest one of all?
How vain are you? I am vain and so was my mother before me. My mother died of cancer when I was 10. I don’t remember her very much but I do remember her standing in front of the full length mirror turning this way and that, admiring herself. I remember her putting on her face cream at night. She used to put on hand and body cream too. That was before she got sick. That was what little memories I have left of her. Apart from the smells from the kitchen and her wonderful sewing. She was a great cook and can sew very well.
Mum was vain and the impression she left behind for me was that it is okay to be vain as a woman. It is good to be conscious about your appearance and to care about how you look. I remembered she used to hand me the comb and a face powder and asked me to comb my hair properly and put on some face powder. “You can’t go out like that” she used to say.
I wonder what sort of impression I am leaving behind for my girl. I am always standing on my weighing scales and sucking my tummy in in front of the mirror.

Anyway, being the vain woman that I am, I am delighted to discover BH Cosmetics. Gosh! The colors. Oh the colors that are available! Imagine a 120 colors pallete eyeshadow at just $29.95. They have a wide range of makeup available but I love the 120 colors palette eyeshadow the most of all.
Imagine the kinds of looks one can create with that! If you include the 26 shadow blush combo pallette and the 66 lip color palette, the possibilities of looks are endless! Furthermore BH Cosmetics eyeshadow is “highly pigmented”, bendable with strong staying power. I hate it when my makeup runs or fades after just a short while. Staying power is good. I like that.
I think that makeup can really create many different looks and moods for a woman. I love to toy around with my makeup to create different looks. They must match my clothing too that is why I love the amazing colors that are available in BH Cosmetics eyeshadow. Don’t you just love it too?
Which would you read? An e-book or a real book? Lately there has been a lot of e-book readers being sold at bookshops. I find them rather expensive. I do hope that in time when technology improves, the price would come down too. Otherwise, I think I will stick to my real book because although there are many books that are downloadable with your e-book reader, it would take many many downloads before it becomes cost effective. Besides, there is nothing like the smell and feel of a book especially when it is new. Wonderful!
However, recently I discovered a free e-book reader for my pc and I must say that I AM LOVING IT! So far, I have read magazines, comics, crafting books, cookbooks, fairytales, etc. It is a fantastic e-book reader. So easy to use and the colours are vibrant and look better than my real book. Flipping and navigating is a breeze too. I can flip, zoom, slide, view thumbnails etc. all of which I can’t do on my real book. Now, I wish I have a laptop so I can bring it around with me. I only have a desktop.
If you love to read, especially magazines, you should check this out. Here is the list of free women’s magazines I found on the Martview site.
I’ve never worn size S before. However I wore M when I was in my 20s and shifted to L in my late 30s. Sob.
Then horror of horrors, post pregnancy, I ballooned to XXL! Much to my dismay it stayed that way for a long time! I had to take drastic action. I ate like a bird. I exercised. After 6 months, I returned to L or occassionally XL.
I hope never to go to XXL again. Though I’m still stuck at L and I suspect I will never fit into M again, it is much better than XXL!
As for my shoe size, it has grown from 6 to 8 and it will never come down again. No amount of dieting will make it shrink after pregnancy.
So there it is. I am L with a shoe size 8. Big hor? As they say. I am in shape. Round is a shape.
What size are you? Anybody in size XS out there? You’ll look like a dwarf beside this giant. lol.
Chinese New Year is coming so its out with the old and in with the new. Time to get new clothes, new shoes, new hairdo. Hmmm…. what hairdo?
To me there are only 4 basic styles. It’s either long and straight, short and straight, long and curly or short and curly with some variations in between like bob, boy cut, layered look etc. So which hairstyle? *Taps fingers*
It would seem that as you grow older and older, your hairstyles become more and more limited. It is limited to short or medium length and straight rather than curly or you would either look like an old lau hiau Ah Soh or an Ah Soh who is trying to look young.
Hmm…. how ar? Since I am always a young person locked inside a middle aged body, what hairstyle should I keep? Should I break tradition? Since I always tend to veer towards the long… hmm…. maybe long with curls…. maybe just color it will do… maybe very very straight (you know like in those glossy shampoo ads) …. maybe… oh I give up. I don’t know. Whatever it is, it always ends up in a mess, tied up in a messy half pony tail half bun. So it does not make any difference. Hehe.
What do you all think? Do you think middle aged women look better with certain hairstyles only?
I am the long hair type. It must be because from the age of 7 to 12 I was forced to have short hair, very short hair because of the school I attended. I was in Methodist Girl’s School. They were very strict about hair. Must be above the colar and ears, fringe above the eyebrows etc. So after age 12, I rebelled and I have been rebelling ever since. Hahaha. I’ve only cut my hair fairly short once since then and I hated the look. Besides long hair is so much easier to look after, its low maintenance, like me. Hehehe.
Here’s an excerpt of an article I read on the web about women with long hair pinpointing women over 40 to be exact (that would be me if you didn’t already know). Haha.
“What Long Hair Reveals About Personality
Women who are over 40 years old and wear their hair long may not resist growing up. Dimitrius writes, “Sometimes women with this trait are caught in a time warp and still think of themselves as teenagers or college students rather than as grown-ups. Such women may be fairly unrealistic in their outlook on life as well as in their perception of themselves.”
Women who have long hair may believe it makes them more sexually appealing. Long hair could also reveal a bohemian spirit or freedom from conventional expectations.

OMG! Hahaha. Perhaps its true. I always feel younger than my age. I’m like stuck forever young in my mind altho the body begs to differ. lol. Older also means slower metabolism. I was supposed to lose 5 pounds but I gained 5 pounds instead. Grrrrrrr! (But then thats another story for another day). The second part about freedom from conventional expectations is not true for me though. I’m very conventional to the point of being exceptionally boooorrrrriingg. Yaawwwwn.
What about you? Which hair type are you?
