Poem: You’re Growing Up!

Monday 18 July 2011 @ 7:21 am

A poem from a mother to her daughter. :)

YOU’RE GROWING UP!

You’re growing up sweetheart
It seems like just yesterday when I held you in my arms
And looked at your little face
Now I can’t even lift you up for a closer embrace

You’re so tall now sweetie
Wasn’t it only days ago that you sat up and crawled
Now you’re running at the malls
Zigzagging here and there not afraid to fall

You love skipping and singing little one
It makes me happy to see you happy like this
You talk a lot now too compared to your first word “daddy”
We cherish you right from the time you were a baby

You like to choose your food now dearie
That is fine because I know you are growing up
It is a lot better than those days
When you pushed out every food we brought your way

You can do so many things on your own now darling
Read and eat and draw and bathe
When once upon a time we felt anxious during separation
While it took almost a year for your toilet education

My sweetie pie, you have still a long road to travel
But I hope that each step you take
Is filled with happiness, joy and laughter
And all the love that we can give you from now till forever after

Poem: Mummy Play With Me

Friday 15 July 2011 @ 3:07 pm

This one was written as a reminder to myself to spend more time playing with the kids. Time waits for no man. With kids, time lost can never be regained. At the time, I wrote the following little excerpt at the end of the poem as well. I remember I placed many pictures of little ones on my Yahoo Geocities page then and I had inserted the Forest Gump music on the page. :)

Moral of the verse: Play, read and talk to your children TODAY while they still want you to!

Poem: Little Ones

Wednesday 13 July 2011 @ 8:25 am

Oh! How wonderful it is to love and receive unconditional love from the little ones. :)

Little Ones

Little arms that hold me tight
so fiercely with all their might
they find me even in the night
making everything feel so right

Little smiles meant just for me
ever ready for me to see
lighting up the room with so much glee
making me feel better, thats a guarantee

Little kisses sweeping over my face
while small arms wrap me in warm embrace
as tiny fingers explore and leave a trace
making sure good feelings are in place

Little hands that reach out for mine
to soothe and comfort when they whine
that precious feeling no one can ever define
making me feel simply divine

My little ones how I adore you
you’re so innocent, so pure and true
when I’m with you I can’t feel blue
I’ll love you till my days are through

Poem: Me Time

Thursday 23 June 2011 @ 8:16 am

Every person is an individual first before they are a wife, mother, daughter, sister, father, brother, son etc. Everyone needs to recharge and take care of themselves from time to time. If you don’t love yourself and take care of your own needs, then how are you going to love others?

“Me Time”

I need to schedule some “me” time
It certainly is no crime
To claim a little time for me
Away from my family

I like to spend some time alone
Doing some things of my own
Whether its just reading or shopping
Blogging or even sleeping

I know as I write this rhyme
That I clearly need some “me” time
So I can rise above the routine
Of making sure my home is serene

I need some time to recharge
So that again I can take charge
Refreshed and raring to go
To do my labor of love

I love to be with the little one
Being with him is lots of fun
But sometimes he needs so much attention
Giving me lots of tension

I love to spend time with his older sis
She’s sweet and loves to give me a kiss
But she can also throw a tantrum
All of me needs a break then even my eardrum

I love to pamper the man of the house
Afterall he is my spouse
With the chores done and the kids asleep
Then its couple time as we softly creep

I know its hard to find some time for me
But its something I have to do to be
Ready to give the best of “me”
So that we can be a happy “we”

Poem: The Right Balance

Tuesday 7 June 2011 @ 8:03 am

Learning to let go at every stage of parenting is not an easy thing. It is a fine line, loving but not loving too much.

The Right Balance

Author & copyright: Mumsgather.com

Teaching children is a delicate thing
Of finding the perfect balance
To love and protect our offspring
Versus freedom and disciplining

I love my kids sometimes too much
But loving also means letting go
I have to release my clutch
So they may be independant and grow

My natural instinct is to protect
But sometimes I have to stand back
And let them fall so they learn to stand
Self assured without my helping hand

I have to teach them right and wrong
But my discipline cannot be too strong
Causing the children to rebel
When all I want is for them to excel

And so I give them the freedom
To learn to do things on their own
So they may have the self confidence
To solve their problems when they are grown

While I stand quietly in the background
Always making sure I am around
To love, nurture, support and guide
So they always have someone to confide
