The other day my boy told me he wanted me to go back to work so that I could earn more money to buy him toys! However, when he heard that it will mean that I am not at home when he gets home from school, he changed his mind. Then his daddy told him “but we will have a bigger house and perhaps a dog for a pet…….” and he quickly replied “Mummy, go to work.” Hmm mmm perhaps I shall.
The boy has been wanting a pet dog for a long time. Since the day he heard that his daddy used to have 3-4 dogs when he was a boy. Unfortunately, for now, all we can afford is two pet fish. Those that were hardy enough to live in our small miserable tank. Perhaps one day we can get him a pet dog. However, the thing about pets and kids is the fact that ultimately the primary caregiver always seem to end up being….. mummy! So I must think about this pet thingy carefully. Do I have the time?
Don’t get me wrong. I love pets. I used to have a pet dog when I was a little girl. She was the cutest little dog with the most soulful eyes. She was with us for 7 years. I cried buckets when she died. Even now, after so many years, I still remember her cute little face and the emotions on her face. Oh gosh, I am going to choke up now.
Speaking about cute pets, I learned about this website for all pet lovers. The Cuteness Pet Community is rather like a Facebook for pets. You can upload your pet’s best photo and create a profile for your beloved pet. There you can meet with and chat with other pets. Oops! I meant other pet owners.
If that is not enough, you can challenge each other to a cute pet duel at Pet Challenges to see whose pet is cuter. lol. I like that. Or you can enter the 24 hour Battlezone to see if your pet is the cutest of them all. You even stand the chance to win prizes at the yearly Thunderdome where 64 top rated pets get to battle it out head to head.
Best of all, you get to mingle with other like minded pet lovers at the Cuteness Dog Park to just talk about your pets or discuss anything and everything about your pet. Contrary to it’s name, the Cuteness Dog Park is not just opened to dogs alone but to ANY pet including birds, cats and even reptiles! I guess my two pet fish qualifies too. Of course you can also recommend products and shop for the best stuff for your pets especially those that have been given 5-paw ratings and reviewed by other pet lovers in the community. If you love pets, you will love this community for sure. Here is how your Pet Profile will look like at the community.

I managed to download YouTube videos on my PC for watching offline. However I hated the fact that I could only watch them one at a time on a special .flv or flash video compatible player. Sometimes the videos are as short as 5 minutes. It seems really silly to download and watch a 5 minute video offline.
I searched around for ways to merge the videos together and finally I found an application that not only allows me to merge but it also allows me to convert the video format at the same time. The best part is its free! Now I can piece together the YouTube videos that I like into one long video and watch them offline using my Windows Media Player (and not any specialised flash video player) whenever I am free without interruption ie without the video stalling and buffering every few seconds which is terribly annoying. It is all very well if you have a good and fast internet connection but a terrible waste of time when you have broadband but half the time it is slow as a snail.
This is what I use. It is the Free AVI/MPEG/WMA/MP4/FLV Video Joiner from FreeAudioVideoSoft, a video joiner application which allows users to join more than one video file of different formats to one file of a specified format, including AVI, MPEG, MP4, FLV, WMV, FLV etc. I tried to join a mp4 file and a flv file from YouTube but it didn’t work very well but joining flv videos together is a breeze. All I had to do is download the video joiner then add videos from the video files on my pc and merge them.
Then I can watch the flash video files one after another back to back. I can even join up to an hour full of 5 minute videos if I like.
Hope this was helpful. Happy Watching.

1. How to download and watch YouTube videos on your pc
I love YouTube but I do not love my browser experience. My internet connection is too slow. Sometimes when I try to watch YouTube videos I give up because it takes too long to buffer and play the videos.
Finally, I found the answer. I download the videos to my PC to watch offline. Downloading takes much less time then buffering. I do not know about the legal issues about downloading YouTube videos but common sense tells me that if it is for personal use and not copyright materials it should be fine.
Let me share my “secret”. I am using Cucusoft YouTube Mate free version. It is a downloader, player and converter. The free version only allows you to download and playback but not convert video files. Most YouTube video files are flash videos with the extension .flv so if you want to watch these videos offline, you will need a special .flv player. The thing I like best about this downloader and player is the fact that it allows you to download several files at one go saving a lot of time.
Right. So now I have downloaded the downloader and player, I have another problem. Most .flv videos are short around 5 to 10 minutes. I also cannot watch it on any other player on my pc, like the windows media player for example. My free version does not allow me to convert the video formats. So what next?
Stay tuned. In my next post, I will share with you how I merge and convert the videos so I can watch the flash videos one after another back to back.

I found a good online dictionary to help me learn Chinese yesterday and now I’m torn.
I wanted to get a handheld Electronic Dictionary because it is convenient but is it all that good? Some people say you can’t find many words. Now if I invest in one, I will surely feel frustrated if I can’t find the word that I want!
At RM1,500 it is not a cheap investment. Hubby kept on asking me whether it will be worth it. Won’t a printed dictionary be just as good? I don’t have an answer for him.
At RM1,500 I can buy a lot of things. I can even replace this cranky PC with an original Dell by adding another one or two hundred. This PC won’t start up in the morning properly. I have to press restart before Windows will start up. Geeezzz!
Aiyooo how ar? Nevermind, while I go and think about it, I want to share the online dictionary that I found.
All banana parents who only know English but are sending their child to Chinese school should find this online dictionary useful. I don’t want to repeat what I have written on my other blog, so if you don’t mind, please hop over there to read……

I love to personalize my pages. One of the pages that loads whenever I switch on my PC is my personalized iGoogle Homepage. My husband doesn’t bother with personalization. Maybe he doesn’t have the time. Hehe.
My personalized iGoogle Homepage contains the RSS to all the local news. I read the foreign news from Google News so I don’t add it here. I have The Malaysian Insider, MySinchew News, The Star Online, NST Current, Malay Mail, Bernama, EMedia News, Malaysiakini. Everything also sapu for a balanced view. Hehe.
Then I have Inspirational Quotes because I like to look at beautiful pictures and read positive words. I have the KL weather, a dictionary and a translator. And of course I have a link to my Gmail and Google Reader plus all the RSS to all my blogs so that dear Google bot would not miss it. Hahaha. I read this tip somewhere.
Sometimes I add new gadgets to my personalized page and sometimes I remove it when I am bored with it. The above is what I have currently.
And at the moment I am using this really beautiful theme on the header. Its called Winter Village. It has a lovely snow scene with the sun that rises and sets in real time and a sky that brightens and darkens with it. Thats just so cool and the headers are all in a nice calming blue. I like it. I think the theme is just nice to put me in a Chrismasy mood. Hehe. I’m too lazy to do a screenshot but you can check out the link if you are interested. And no, this is not a sponsored post. Hehe. I just wanted to share the link to this theme because I love it!
