Eating mooncake is almost an art these days. Someone was kind enough to give us a box of Mandarin Oriental Kuala Lumpur mooncakes. Let me show you how to eat the mooncake.
First of all, the mooncake box will be inside a paper package.
Next, you gingerly and gently lift the packaging from inside this paper package to see what design Mandarin Oriental (or replace with any other mooncake maker) came up with this year.
Next, you have to figure out how to open this magical looking box. Do you lift it up, pull out the drawers, slide it open or ?? Do not be too impatient to get to the mooncakes. I have torn apart many beautiful mooncake boxes in my ignorance and impatience. Ahhh.. this year’s mooncake packaging from Mandarin Oriental Kuala Lumpur pulls apart.
Hey! But wait there’s more. There’s another layer or level. Now, how do I get to that? Hmm…. Oh, you have to lift it up, not pull out the drawers. Ok…. now gently lift up to reveal more mooncakes. Yay!
Next, you have to take out the mini boxes and check them one by one to see what surprises you’ve got! They are all bound to have exotic names like this one “Milk Tea Lotus Paste” from Mandarin Oriental, Kuala Lumpur
Now, you’ve got to get to the next part. Opening up the mini boxes contained inside the mooncake package. So you open these up and in side they are all individually wrapped to keep it from spoiling.
You’re almost there now. Since you have taken such a long time admiring the box, figuring how to open it up, selecting your mooncake, don’t just devour it just like that. Do cut it up and place it on your nicest serving plate. There you go! You may now chow down. Chomp! Chomp!
